Veneers in Manhattan

What are porcelain veneers?

Manhattan Porcelain VeneersPorcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are fabricated with the help of a dental laboratory. They generally cover the tops and front of teeth. Veneers can be used to whiten teeth as well as correct problems like chipped, misshapen, crooked or worn teeth.

The procedure

Central Park Porcelain VeneersPorcelain veneers are custom created to precisely fit your teeth. On your first visit, we carefully remove a thin layer of enamel. Then we take impressions of your teeth. A dental lab uses these impressions to build a model of your teeth, then creates the porcelain veneers on that model.

You'll love your new smile!

New York Porcelain VeneersOnce they're in place, porcelain veneers virtually become part of your teeth. You can use them like you would your own teeth, because the bond is extremely strong. Your final result is a more beautiful, natural-looking new smile!

We have placed what we consider to be the "State of the art" in dental care on your teeth. Your porcelain veneers were placed using the finest materials and techniques available in dentistry today. Our entire staff takes extra pride to insure that your porcelain veneers will provide you with many years of enjoyable smiles. As a proud owner of a new smile (we promise we won't tell anyone that it is not all your own!), we want to provide you with some information that may help you keep them as nice and as long as possible.

Chewing: Porcelain veneers, although possibly as strong is your natural teeth, can chip or break if abused. We, therefore, recommend that you avoid certain things that have been responsible for breaking even natural teeth such as chewing ice, biting finger nails or "bobbie" pins, hard candy, or chicken or rib bones.

Grinding: If you grind your teeth, either at night while sleeping or during a daytime activity such as sports, we may recommend that you have a custom mouthguard made to protect your porcelain veneers. This is particularly important if your new veneers were used to lengthen your teeth.

Brushing: Always use a soft toothbrush and avoid abrasive toothpastes such as baking soda, or a "smoker's" toothpaste. These abrasive toothpastes can scratch and damage your new veneers, as they can also damage your natural teeth.

Fluoride: Do not use stannous fluoride or Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride products with your veneers. Many dentists and hygienists recommend these products, such as OniniMed or Gel-Kam, to help those individuals with sensitive or cavity prone teeth. These products can actually etch the porcelain veneers and decrease the surface smoothness of the veneer. Always tell the dental hygienist that you have porcelain veneers when you have your teeth cleaned. If the hygienist recommends a fluoride gel or rinse, make sure it is a neutral sodium fluoride such as Prevident or Fortify.

Roughness: If you feel a rough edge on your veneer, do not pick at it. Call the office to have the doctor smooth it.

Failure: If, for any reason other than a traumatic accident, your veneers chip or crack, they will be replaced free of charge during the first five years. We feel so confident about these porcelain veneers, that we offer this five year warranty!
