Breath Management System

Well, here is great news: all of those negative reactions will soon be a thing of the past! You can be on the  way towards attaining the fresh clean breath you want and deserve with BreathRx

The more you know about halitosis, the more you can do about it!

There are two distinctly different types of halitosis: bad odors from your lungs and oral halitosis.

When you eat foods like garlic or onions, you may get problem breath associated. with odor that comes from your lungs. It generally only lasts from 24 to 72 hours.

But an estimated forty million Americans have bad breath that never goes away As your dentist may have told you by now, the medical term for this condition is halitosis (or oral malodor).

Breath Treatment Central ParkThere is no permanent cure for 90% of oral halitosis. It requires professional assistance and long term control and management of this condition. Fortunately, the BreathRx Breath Treatment System was developed to make that long term treatment as easy, convenient and effective as possible.

Many people think that all bad breath is the result of what’s going on in our stomachs.  That is simply not the whole story. The actual odor of halitosis is generated by Gram-negative bacteria. These bacteria thrive in the mouth under the gums, and in the nooks and crannies on the teeth and surface of the tongue.

Left untreated, Gramnegative bacteria cause the formation of volatile sulfur compounds, (VSC’s) in the form of hydrogen sulfides. And sulfur has never been accused of giving off a pleasing odor. It's famous for its pungent, "rotten egg" smell – not exactly the kind of active chemical compound you want on your breath! These VSC offenders are hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide and dimethyl disulfide.

Oddly enough, many people with halitosis aren't even aware of their problem breath.  Why?  Because our sense of smell has an incredible ability to adjust odors.  This olfactory adjustment is known as adaptation.

Have you ever noticed how an offensive smell in a closed room in a closed room seems to lesson over time?  Believe it or not, the room's odor doesn't improve, your sense of smell merely adapts to it. Also, cupping your hands, to direct the odor to your nose doesn't help. Why our brains work this way is not clear. It may be a survival tactic that allows "self odors" to not overwhelm the ability to detect other animal or food odors. That's why many people with halitosis, believe their breath is perfectly fresh and normal.

Your fresh breath might be going up in smoke!

Tobacco use also leads to a common form of halitosis generally referred to as "smoker's breath". If you haven't stopped smoking for any of the obvious bad breath. health issues, here's one more important reason to quit. Breath Treatment Manhattan

The odor from tobacco is due to two reasons:

  1. tar, nicotine and other noxious substances accumulate on the teeth, tongue, cheeks and other soft oral tissues and
  2. smoking dries the membranes of the mouth. And the lack of moisturizing saliva enhances the growth of bacteria leading to bad breath.

Saliva: nature's own breath management

Breath Treatment New YorkYour saliva is a key part of your body's breath control system. Healthy saliva flow helps keep your mouth's pH balance within the normal 6.5 to 6.9 range. When decreased salivary activity causes your pH levels to escalate, Gram-negative bacteria increase which produces volatile, sulfur compounds and bad breath begins.

Ever suffer from morning breath? It's a direct result of the decreased salivary activity that occurs naturally as we sleep.

Seven Easy ways to help your saliva go with the flow

  1. Drink plenty of water to provide the fluids your body needs to keep your mouth moist.
  2. Rinse your mouth right before bedtime to moisten oral tissues before you go to sleep.
  3. Stop smoking! Remember, smoking dries the membranes of your mouth, alters its pH and interferes with healthy saliva flow.
  4. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Alcohol also dries oral tissues and inhibits critical saliva activity.
  5. Eat foods like carrots, celery, and other items that require lots of saliva generating chewing.
  6. Keep your mouth moist by chewing sugarfree gum. Chewing sugarfree gurn helps generate saliva. Do so for short periods as chewing over long periods of time may encourage TMJ.
  7. Avoid sleeping in a "flat out" position. It can block saliva flow to your stomach while you sleep and lead to bad breath caused by reverse stomach acid flow, or "acid reflux". Use a pillow to elevate your head and shoulders so gravity and your saliva can work together.
  8. At some point in our lives, almost everyone suffers from bad breath brought on by the decreased flow of saliva. It can often be triggered by medications or certain types of disease. Salivary activity also decreases as we age, which explains the increase in halitosis among many older people.

Products that only mask bad breath are bad news

Americans spend over 1 billion dollars each year on over-the-counter products that do not eliminate bad breath. Most can only mask it temporarily. An independent study of fifteen mouthwash products showed that while they all masked bad breath after ten minutes, only a few were effective after a few hours.

And when it comes to something as important as your breath, you shouldn't rely on something that can let you down at any moment. Also, most mouthwash products contain alcohol that dries soft oral tissue, which ultimately leads to even faster formation of odor causing bacteria.

In addition, a 1991 study quoted in the 'Journal Of The American Dental Association' indicated that mouthwashes “containing more than 25% alcohol could increase the risk of oral and pharyngeal cancers by about 50%."

Fortunately, that's a risk you don't have to take. Because 100% alcohol free BreathRx eliminates the cause and neutralizes, the resulting odors of halitosis. That's how BreathRx outperforms other products that only mask odor or remain effective for only a matter of minutes.
